A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT...      

Exciting news from the AMC!

The spring 2012 season is shaping up to be very exciting for the Apollo Male Chorus.  If you haven't heard already, the AMC is sponsoring the Northstar Male Choral Festival (NMCF) which will be held on Saturday, February 25th at the Hopkins High School Performing Arts Center.  The AMC is hosting this festival as an opportunity to promote male choral music, network with other choruses, educate, and share our mutual love of music.  The AMC has received a $10,000 grant through the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council to help offset the costs for hosting this event, allowing us to offer this event to participating ensembles at no cost.

The festival schedule consists of music workshops, adjudication and combined mass choral rehearsals, followed by a public concert in the evening.  We are very pleased to announce that the workshops and adjudication will be held by Cantus - one of the premier men's vocal ensembles in the United States.

Thus far, the AMC has confirmed participation from Irondale High School, Coon Rapids High School, Minnehaha Academy and the Minnesota Boychoir.  There are still 1 or 2 slots available and we are in the process of confirming participation from Lakeville South High School as well.  In total, we expect to have approximately 100 young men participating in this festival!  The finale concert will feature performances from the Apollo Male Chorus, each participating HS ensemble and a special performance from Cantus.  Tickets for the concert are on sale for $15.

In addition to the NMCF and 2 wonderful concerts on April 22nd and 29th, the AMC is going on a spring tour.  This tour will begin on Thursday, April 19th and will have stops in towns such as Grand Forks, Wahpeton, ND as well as Detroit Lakes, MN.  Additional details regarding the tour will be provided as they become available.
